There are two separate canteens in Raja Birendra Chandra College- one for the students and other for the college staff. Both the canteens are equipped with well spaced seating arrangements. A variety of nutritious and hygienically prepared foods are available in the canteens at reasonable prices. An ample supply of fresh drinking water is always available in the canteens.
By the initiative of Raja Birendra Chandra College, the annual magazine ‘Manan’ and the wall magazine of the Department of Bengali, ‘Setu’ have been published with grand success. Along with these, wall magazine of the Department of Physical Education, ‘Prayas’ is also continuing its run of publication. These magazines will be facilitating the teaching and non-teaching staff and the students to nurture their creative expression. Especially novices unfurl their wings of creativity through these magazines. It is mostly anticipated that these tireless endeavours will find fruition in an expanding literary awareness.
To maintain healthy cultural atmosphere in college campus several cultural activities are organized by the college throughout the year. Different cultural activities and competitions like celebration of different important dates, freshers’ welcome ceremony, annual cultural programme are observed to nourish the young minds and make them cultured and mature citizens of the country.
College has a fully equipped gymnasium along with treadmill, bicycle ergometer, parallel bar, chinning bar, bench press, leg press, chain pulley shoulder press, rowing, AB king pro, hamstring press, twister etc. Students can access gym during college hours.
In our college we have microphone enabled College Hall for various Co curricular activities and programmes. College also provides an ICT classroom for progressive teaching learning-process which is equipped with laptop, screen, overhead projector etc.
The college has a very well equipped laboratory in the Geography Department. There are several instruments which include all those which are taught in the syllabus of University of Kalyani as well as several others. These include all survey instruments, GPS, thermometer, barometer, an extensive collection of rocks and minerals, stereoscope, soil testing kits and many more. There are also a number of maps, both toposheets and wall maps which help the students to gain hands on knowledge. Field survey is carried out regularly in the college grounds. Well equipped laboratory also is available in the Physical Education department.
The NSS was started in our college to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. The main objective between of NSS is ‘Education and Personality Development of Students through Service to Community’. Our mission is to inculcate principles, values and ideologies in the younger generation and make them aware of their commitment towards social and moral duties and initiate them into social community service. The NSS volunteers are involves in multi-dimensional activities like tree plantation, adoption of village, Swachha Bharat Abhijan (Clean India Programme), health camp, awareness programmes, blood donation camp etc. Along with this, NSS unit organizes a seven days special camp every year.
Raja Birendra Chandra College has organized a number of webinars during Covid-19 period. In the academic year of 2022-23 it aims to organize seminars for student enrichment.
Our college has taken keen interest in identifying and promoting students talented in sports activities. Annual sports is conducted every year in the college. A good number of students, teachers and non-teaching staff participate in the annual sports with enthusiasm. Apart from that Department of Physical education and Sports committee of the college encourages students to participate in National, State and University level competitions. In last academic session our college participated in East zone Inter University Kho Kho (W) Championship 2021-22 and All India Inter- University Women’s Kho Kho Tournament 2021-22. Apart from this, College has various facilities of indoor games with various amenities like carom board, TT, chess board, badminton court etc. Yoga and Meditation are available in the Physical Education Department.
The Geography Department of the college organizes Study tour every year as part of the Geography Hons syllabus of the University of Kalyani. It is compulsory for every student of Geography Hons to take part in these excursions. These are organized both within and outside the state of West Bengal. The students are accompanied by the teachers of the Department who guide them in gaining practical knowledge of the field and help them to gain hands on experience in research design, methodology and preparation of reports. Successful tpours have already been organized to several parts of Miurshidabad district, North Bengal, Sunderbans and Sikkim.
CCTV cameras have been installed on the college campus and in every classroom for the safety of the students and for conducting examinations transparently. Regular monitoring is done. College also provides cycle stand with shed for students. Along with this, College has a fully equipped laboratories of Geography and Physical Education department for practical work. Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine is installed in the college for lady teachers, lady office staffs and female students.
